RE: Telephone Service

If you have a GSM phone with a SIM card you can buy a prepaid SIM card. It may not be worth it though unless you plan to be in Canada long enough to use it. The prepaid card will be good if you plan to return to Canada. We have a FIDO card and the same number, going on 5 years. Sidney

RE: Water pumped out of city inlet when pump on???

Yes, there IS a check valve in the city water inlet. Sometimes some grit can cause it to stick. You can try gently poking in it. If necessary it is not usually a big job. Sidney

RE: Patch or replace air mattress

You might contact the mfg directly and ask for some assistance. That approach has worked favorably for me on many RV parts including our air mattress. Tell them how much you love their product. Sidney

RE: FL Campgrounds near biking trails

The West Orange Trail is complete from Clermont FL to Apopka FL about 40 miles or so. There are several places to camp either right on the trail or nearby. This is a great paved trail. If you are there after mid November let me know and we can ride together if you like. You might also like to check Florida Freewheelers central Florida's largest bike club. You do not need to be a member to join any rides. They do rides for cyclists of all levels as well. What do you consider "long bike rides"? Sidney

RE: Auto Changeover Problems!

There is a slotted screw on the side of the OPD valve. Turn off the bottle, open that screw slowly till you hear hissing propane (releasing pressure). Close the screw and then open the tank slowly it should go green. The OPD valves are great safety devices that have probably earned the regulator companies a lot of money by selling a lot of needless replacements. If my suggestion works for you, you will understand why. Sidney

RE: Replacement Battery

Some of the Costco stores have them however I was unable to find any in the East. I would definitely call first. I finally bought mine at a Sam's Club in Maryland. They appear to have better availability in the East. Costco seems to have them available at some of the Western stores. Sidney

RE: Lifting a 5ver?

I just raised mine 2" by changing the position of the shackle bolts. The bolts are in hangers with 3 holes. They were in the top hole and I had them moved to the center effectively raising the trailer two inches. Sidney

RE: Best Air Mattress

We have purchased Comfortaire for two RV's. Have used them fulltime for more than ten years. Any issues we have had were resolved 100% with NO problems. They are a great company to deal with and we would definitely buy again. Sidney

RE: Extended stay in Moble Home Park

We have stayed at mobile home parks in Florida, Texas, California, Oklahoma, Quebec, and Indiana. I have never had to do anything but connect water sewer and electric. I suggest you call the ones you are interested in staying at and ask them what kind of connections they have for an RV. Sidney

RE: Data Recovery Software

No luck yet! I have tried "Recover My Files" and "Restorer2000" Neither one is able to read or see any files on the partition. I don't give up easily so I will continue to try some others. I will also try to contact tech support at the companies who's software I have tried in the hopes they have a trick or two. I will check out File Scavenger as well. Thanks for all your input. BTW, I did wrap the drive in Saran and put it in the freezer for about a half hour.....Nada! Sidney

RE: I'm so Excited!!!!

Congratulations! We bought our 2003, 3500 new in Albuquerque. It is getting close to 100,000 Trouble Free miles. Keep the speed down and you will be impressed by the fuel economy. Sidney

RE: Is my Refer DEAD ?

Try the "burping" Leave the fridge upside down overnite. It is not that hard to remove and you don't need to take it out of the MH. Put some cardboard or plywood on the floor to protect it. I have been successful with that method in the "old" days. It won't cost anything but a little work to try and no harm will be done. Sidney

RE: Data Recovery Software

Thanks for the responses. I will review each of those options. I have a SATA/IDE cable and after a long wait my drive was recognized as "E" and "F". E would be my main partition and F is the "recovery" partition. When I tried to access E the computer just ran for a very long time until I aborted. For those of you that have used the recovery software....do you think the software will "see" my data? Thanks, Sidney

Data Recovery Software

The hard drive in my HP laptop crashed. Does anyone have experience with data recovery software? Sidney

RE: Is my Refer DEAD ?

Is there an ammonia smell at fridge? Is there any green residue on floor at back of fridge? Yes to either of these ??, your cooling unit has leaked and is probably dead. If the unit has a circuit board, there is a way to bypass all the electronics and operate the cooling unit by electric directly. Sidney

RE: Buffalo NY area WalMarts - Yes/No boondocking?

We always telephone and speak to a manager and ask if they permit overnight parking at their location. We ask for their name, and if the answer is yes, we may spend the night. With cellphones it is always easy to call ahead when we are on the road. I check the phone numbers of possible locations before a trip. So my advice is to call the store you are interested in staying at. Sidney
